Performing Spaces at Kalachaya Cultural Centre
Rangamandapam : Offers a regular proscenium stage for various dance/ theatre/ instrumental performances. Houses an audience of 350 - 375 people. The stage dimensions are 35 ft by 20 ft. various programmes have been a part of this beautiful set up. Rangamandapam is also offers the right set up for small choreographic works, with its right dimensions.
Bahurupi Amphitheatre : One of the unique performance spaces, with earthen flooring specially maintained for dance & theatre performances. Shaped as a quarter of a circle the space houses about 150-175 people in all its natural surroundings! one of the most loved areas in the campus, it has witnessed various choreographic works, classical music to acoustic music & theatre works by NSD, & Prithvi theatre.
Darshan The dance Studio : Offers space for dance/ theatre rehearsals, & small lec-demos. Has a capacity to accommodate 75-100 people. The studio has full mirrors on one side of the wall.
Darpan art Gallery : It was initiated in the Kalachhaya campus, in 2008. Apart from the ongoing performing art section, the vision to expand into visual arts initiated this effort. The art gallery boasts of a huge 1300 sq ft display space,apart from a huge storage space for paintings. The gallery promotes upcoming artists from various backgrounds apart form the senior members of the field who are regular exhibitors at DARPAN.
Nakshatra Lok (Terrace Theatre) : Also known as the terrace theatre, this is another very unique concept in the campus. an open to the sky stage surrounded by hills on 2 sides, provides the perfect ambience for various acoustic shows as well as lec demos on various topics like dance, yoga etc.
Chitwan : A very thoughtful space just recently created at kalachhaya campus, aptly known as the sadhana kaksha, provides the right, rehearsal space & ambience for upcoming artists from various fields. Its a basement hall of 600 sq ft, with ample light & beautiful surroundings. This hall was inaugurated by none other than Pt. Birju Maharajji, in Feb 2013 who applauded the effort to create such a space, as rehearsal space is one of the biggest issue all artists face, which will now be taken care of.
